I am a mental health counsellor and psychotherapist with over ten years of experience in the USA and the Middle East.
Coming from a middle eastern background and raised in the US, I speak Arabic fluently and have a deep understanding of various cultures and understand the importance of psychosocial factors within the therapeutic process.
I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from American University (Washington DC, USA), and I completed my Masters in Clinical Counselling with an emphasis on Community Mental Health from Montclair State University (New Jersey, USA).
I strongly believe in a client’s ability to heal and the power of the therapeutic alliance. I believe that clients can heal from life’s traumas and struggles in a safe and warm therapeutic environment.
In my career, I have completed intensive and specialized training at Family Service League in New Jersey, USA, focused on families and couples. I then worked as a Psychology Practitioner at Rashid Hospital in Dubai, UAE, during which I provided inpatient and outpatient psychological support for patients and their families.
I also worked in American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology in Dubai as a counsellor and provided employee assistant support by helping clients of various corporate companies deal with stress management, anxiety, healthy communication in the workplace, and relationship concerns.
In the Dubai Diabetes Center, part of the Dubai Health Authority as a Psychology Practitioner I provided support to patients and their families as an integral part of a dynamic team approach in treating diabetes.
I am now working with various renowned private mental health clinics in London, UK, as a consultant counsellor and psychotherapist.
I use an integrative approach rooted in Humanistic therapy that focuses on creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients through which they can foster positive change and increase self-awareness. I also incorporate techniques of trauma-focused counselling, emotion-focused counselling, mindfulness, and CBT.
My approach is collaborative and focuses on providing a safe and non-judgmental space for you to begin your healing journey.
I provide individual support, family therapy, psychoeducation, group counselling, and help clients to develop healthier self-management through behavioural and supportive interventions.
I have extensive experience working with adults dealing with depression, adjustment, loss/grief, existential issues, identity issues, anxiety, and family-related issues.
I believe that each client has an inner strength that is brought out through the counselling process and that each individual has the potential to improve their mental health and achieve a healthier and more fulfilled life. Although life can be painful, there is a light that shines within each individual, and through healing our wounds, we can regain a sense of calm and learn how to manage our pain in a way that allows us to feel a greater sense of fulfilment and joy.
